According to Apple's website on June 11, Siri AI will only work on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series or newer models. Morgan Stanley estimated that currently 850 million iPhones will not be able to run Apple Intelligence, and more than 1.3 billion devices are expected to be unable to use Siri AI's advanced features.
This is because older iPhones lack the hardware performance needed to run advanced AI features. Morgan Stanley analyzed that due to the on-device processing demands of Apple Intelligence, 12GB of unified memory is required to use the AI features.
Regulatory Barriers in the EU and China... Delays in Launch Due to Local Restrictions
Delayed launches in certain countries due to local regulations are also cited as a limitation.

Craig Federighi, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, stated, "Our ultimate goal is to bring Siri AI to the EU, and we will continue to work closely with EU regulatory authorities to find a solution."
In China as well, Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features will not be available for the time being. Apple cited local service regulations and approval procedures as the reasons. Since 2023, China has implemented provisional measures for managing AI services, requiring service providers to register algorithms or undergo security reviews with authorities before launching AI services.
'Latecomer in AI' and Lack of Innovation... Stock Drops by 2%
Although Apple unveiled AI features based on Google's Gemini, some point out that the company remains a 'latecomer in AI,' merely catching up with features introduced by others in 2024. After the WWDC keynote, Apple's stock price fell by nearly 2% and has not rebounded.
