A man in his 50s who stabbed and killed a neighboring resident with a weapon while drunk in broad daylight at an apartment complex in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, has been arrested by the police.
On the 4th, the Yeosu Police Station in South Jeolla Province announced that they had taken into custody and were questioning Mr. A, in his 50s, on suspicion of murder.
Mr. A is suspected of having fatally attacked Mr. B, also in his 50s and a resident of the same apartment complex, with a weapon at around 12:59 p.m. that day in front of a commercial building at an apartment complex in Munsu-dong, Yeosu.
Mr. B, who was stabbed with the weapon, suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but ultimately died.
The investigation found that Mr. A and Mr. B were neighbors living in the same apartment building and that they had often drunk together in the past.
It has been determined that Mr. A was drinking with Mr. B that day when an argument broke out, and he then took a weapon from the kitchen of his home and went out to commit the crime.
The police, who were dispatched after receiving a report, arrested Mr. A at the scene in the act.
A police official said, "Mr. A was intoxicated, so the investigation is not proceeding smoothly," adding, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant after determining the exact circumstances and motive of the crime."
