The part-time job program for senior citizens will be carried out in seven areas: senior center safety guardians, senior center meal assistants, environmental monitoring team, environmental maintenance, clean park guardians, silver non-smoking zone guardians, and welfare assistants.

Among these, recruitment for senior center safety guardians (410 people) and meal assistants (480 people) was completed in December last year, and the projects have been underway since January 2 this year.

Applications for participation in the remaining five areas will be accepted from February 5 to 13.

Eligible applicants are Seongnam-si residents aged 65 or older.

The number of people to be recruited by area is 3,140 for environmental maintenance, 300 for clean park guardians, 30 for silver non-smoking zone guardians, and 30 for welfare assistants.

Participants in these four areas will work 12 hours per month from March 3 until the end of the year and receive a monthly activity allowance of 150,240 won.

The environmental monitoring team will recruit 430 people, who will work 16 hours per month and receive a monthly activity allowance of 200,320 won.

Seongnam-si set the monthly activity allowance by applying this year’s living wage of 12,520 won per hour.

To participate, applicants should check the relevant receiving agency for each area in the public notice section on the Seongnam-si City Hall website and then submit an application form.

An official from Seongnam-si said, "The part-time job program for senior citizens is being promoted to support an active later life for seniors who are able to work, and to provide opportunities both for community service and for earning pocket money," adding, "It has been receiving a very positive response every year."
