The city received seven cases of exemplary proactive administration through recommendations from citizens and department heads. Based on five criteria-including citizen satisfaction, significance and difficulty, and the proactiveness of those in charge-a first-round practical review and a second-round evaluation and resolution by the Proactive Administration Committee were conducted. As a result, three outstanding cases of proactive administration for the second half of the year were selected, and six public officials who led these cases were finally chosen.

The top case was the Housing Division’s “Gwangju City AIP Residential Environment Improvement” project, which was highly praised for supporting seniors to live in their communities rather than in facilities, thereby safeguarding their living rights. As an excellent case, the joint project by the Digital Information Division and the Taxation Division, “Promoting Fair Property Taxation Using Drones and Spatial Information,” was recognized for improving the property tax administration process through interdepartmental collaboration. As an encouragement case, the Smart Transportation Division’s “Establishment of an Efficient Bus Route System through Route Reorganization” was selected, marking the first comprehensive reorganization of bus routes in Gwangju City in 35 years.

Public officials who promoted these exemplary cases of proactive administration will receive rewards according to their selection grade, including a mayoral commendation, additional points for personnel evaluations, special leave, and a monetary award.

Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, “By providing bold incentives to public officials who practice proactive administration, we will spread a culture of proactive administration throughout the public sector and do our utmost to strengthen administrative capabilities so that these achievements can be felt in the daily lives of citizens.”
