On February 4, Samsung Electronics will add American Express (hereafter Amex) cards to the list of cards that support overseas payments through Samsung Wallet.
Going forward, Samsung Wallet users will be able to make easy overseas payments not only with Mastercard and Visa, but also with Amex cards, all without a physical card. However, Amex support is currently limited to cards issued by Samsung Card, with plans to expand support to additional card issuers in the future.
Payments via Samsung Wallet can be made at Amex-affiliated merchants worldwide that support NFC (contactless payment).
In particular, Samsung Wallet provides a secure payment environment based on robust security features, allowing users to make payments with confidence while traveling or on business trips abroad.
Amex, a technology-driven global premium payment and lifestyle brand, is a credit card favored by high-income individuals and business travelers in North America, Europe, and Asia. Through partnerships with hotels, airlines, restaurants, and more, Amex offers a variety of premium benefits to its customers.
Based on this collaboration with Amex, Samsung Electronics plans to expand the global payment support of Samsung Wallet and further strengthen its competitiveness in overseas markets.
Chae Woncheol, Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics MX Division, stated, "By adding Amex card overseas payment support, we are enhancing the global usability of Samsung Wallet and providing differentiated services for premium card users. In the future, Samsung Wallet will continue to add more global payment options to further improve user convenience."
Meanwhile, Samsung Wallet recently introduced a variety of lifestyle services, including the mobile ID 'Samsung Wallet Millipass,' which offers various benefits to military personnel and their families; the rechargeable easy payment service 'Samsung Wallet Money'; and the rewards accumulation program 'Samsung Wallet Points.'
