New "Transition Support Fund" Introduced for Switching from Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles to Electric Vehicles

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on January 30 that it plans to provide purchase subsidies for a total of 1,315 electric vehicles this year. This represents an increase of approximately 20% compared to last year.

The city will support subsidies for 660 electric vehicles in the first half of the year and 655 in the second half. Eligible recipients include residents who have been registered in Osan City for at least 30 days as of the date of application for the electric vehicle purchase subsidy, as well as companies and corporations with business locations in Osan City.


The maximum subsidy amount is 9.5 million won for electric passenger cars and 21.17 million won for electric trucks. The list of eligible vehicle models and detailed subsidy amounts by vehicle type can be found on the Ministry of Environment's Zero Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal.


Subsidy applications can be submitted through electric vehicle manufacturers, importers, or dealers starting February 2. However, the program may close early if the budget is exhausted.


Meanwhile, this year, individuals who sell or scrap an internal combustion engine vehicle they have owned for more than three years and purchase an electric vehicle will also be eligible for a "transition support fund" of up to 1.3 million won.
