HD Hyundai Infracore Hydrogen Engine Selected as Top Product at WHE by Journalists

HD Hyundai Infracore's hydrogen engine has been selected as the top product at the World Hydrogen Expo (WHE 2025) by journalists from the Korea Automotive Journalists Association.

The Korea Automotive Journalists Association announced the results of the WHE 2025 Best Product Media Awards, which it co-hosted with the WHE Organizing Committee, on December 11.

For the Best Product Media Awards, journalists from media outlets affiliated with the Korea Automotive Journalists Association visited WHE 2025, the world's largest hydrogen industry exhibition, held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from December 4 to 7. They directly reviewed all exhibited products and technologies, and selected outstanding products through a voting process based on audience response, market potential, and technological innovation.

As a result, the grand prize, ▲Best Pick, was awarded to HD Hyundai Infracore's hydrogen engines 'HX12' and 'HX22'. The ▲Excellent Pick, recognizing outstanding achievement, went to Hyundai Motor Group's 'Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station', AP Green's 'Distributed Low-Power Hydrogen Production System', and KMCP's 'Hydrogen Fuel Cell Propulsion Boat'.

Among HD Hyundai Infracore's hydrogen engines selected as Best Pick, the 'HX12' is an 11-liter class hydrogen engine for vehicles and power generation. It was recognized again this year following last year's selection, and is scheduled for mass production next year.

The 'HX22', unveiled for the first time at WHE 2025, is the world's largest 22-liter class hydrogen engine. Featuring a V-type 12-cylinder structure, it delivers a maximum output of 600 kW (816 horsepower) and a continuous output of 477 kW (649 horsepower), capable of meeting the annual electricity needs of approximately 200 households.

Kang Namhoon, Chairman of the WHE 2025 Organizing Committee, stated, "We hope that innovative technologies highlighted through the Best Product Media Awards will spread more rapidly throughout the industry. The organizing committee will continue to expand global partnerships and technological exchanges to support the growth of the hydrogen ecosystem."
