Jinan County Wins "Excellence Award" in Regional Food Index Evaluation

"Excellence of Regional Food Policies Proven"

Jinan County in North Jeolla Province received an A-grade Excellence Award in the "2025 Regional Food Index" evaluation held at the Intercity Hotel in Daejeon on December 9.

According to the county on December 10, this evaluation, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, assessed and announced the efforts of local governments to promote local food and the achievements of their food policies. The evaluation targeted 159 rural and urban-rural complex cities and counties nationwide, selecting 29 of them as outstanding local governments.

The county, which has received the A-grade Excellence Award for two consecutive years following last year, was recognized for the sustainability and implementation capacity of its regional food policies.

Kim Namsu, Head of the Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Division of the county, stated, "This consecutive award over two years is a valuable achievement made possible by the joint efforts of Jinan County residents and local farmers. We will continue to strengthen sustainable food policies to expand the consumption of local agricultural products and ensure safe food for our residents."

Meanwhile, the county plans to continue building a safe local food system centered on food policies involving local residents, and will steadily promote various policies and programs that foster mutual growth between producers and consumers, further solidifying its position as a leading food city in North Jeolla Province.
