Goryeong County Named 'Excellent Institution' in North Gyeongsang Cardiovascular and Smoking Cessation Project Evaluation... Wins Smoking Cessation Award for 3 Consecutive Years

Achievements Recognized for Red Circle Zone Operation and Public-Private Partnership Smoking Cessation Supporters

Goryeong County announced on December 9 that it received the 'Excellent Institution Award' in both categories at the '2025 Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management Project & Smoking Cessation Project Joint Performance Conference' organized by North Gyeongsang Province. The smoking cessation support service project was named an excellent institution for the third consecutive year, once again demonstrating the stability and effectiveness of its operations.

This evaluation was conducted by comprehensively reviewing both quantitative and qualitative indicators for 24 health centers in North Gyeongsang Province to select outstanding cities and counties. The initiative also aimed to improve the quality of local public health projects by sharing best practices.

In the cardiovascular disease prevention project, Goryeong County actively promoted hypertension and diabetes management for residents and provided early symptom education for stroke and myocardial infarction. Additionally, the county was highly rated for revitalizing the 'Red Circle Zone,' which offers blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol measurements and counseling, thereby establishing an early detection system for chronic diseases.

For the smoking cessation project, smoking prevention education was provided to 1,317 students at 28 local kindergartens, daycare centers, elementary, middle, and high schools. The operation of a public-private partnership smoking cessation supporters group, in collaboration with the Goryeong County Volunteer Police, was also recognized as an exemplary case.

The head of the Goryeong County Health Center stated, "In 2026, we will further strengthen the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases and the smoking cessation support service project to continue promoting the health of our residents."
