On November 12, Dong-gu designated 73 areas within the district, encompassing 4,890 stores, as alleyway shopping districts, thereby incorporating the entire region into a support system for local commercial districts.
Approximately 100 people attended the ceremony, including representatives of each alleyway shopping district, local small business owners, and related organizations, reaffirming their commitment to cooperation for revitalizing the local commercial sector. During the event, participants were briefed on support programs for small businesses and future policy initiatives, and a communication session was held where small business owners could speak directly with the district mayor and share their opinions. Attendees exchanged various proposals and discussed challenges for revitalizing local commercial districts, pledging mutual cooperation.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, stated, "The designation of the entire area as alleyway shopping districts lays an important foundation for the recovery of Dong-gu's commercial sector," adding, "We will continue to support the revitalization of local commercial districts through policies such as Onnuri gift certificates and Donggurang Pay to help restore vibrancy to the area."
Meanwhile, Dong-gu plans to continue supporting the management stability of small businesses and the revitalization of local commercial districts so that the effects of the alleyway shopping district designation can spread throughout the region.
