Hana Bank announced on the 30th that, in collaboration with the Export-Import Bank of Korea, it will provide 300 million euros in K-defense export financing to countries in Europe, including Poland.
This collaboration between Hana Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Korea involves both private and policy financing participating in large-scale defense export projects. It is part of the 84 trillion won in productive finance initiatives announced by Hana Financial Group in October.
An official from Hana Bank's Global Investment Banking Division stated, "The defense industry is one of the 'strategic technology industries' that must be prioritized for support through productive finance," adding, "It is significant that Hana Bank is the first among domestic commercial banks to participate in the financial support provided by the Export-Import Bank of Korea to countries purchasing K-defense products."
Meanwhile, in 2023, Hana Bank formed a consortium of commercial banks to support the second round of exports by Korean companies to Poland. Furthermore, in July last year, with Hana Bank at the center and support from other commercial banks, K-defense companies such as Hanwha Aerospace and Hyundai Rotem were able to successfully proceed with their second project contracts in Poland.
In addition, Hana Bank has accelerated its support for K-defense export financing, including a separate 100 million euro contribution to Poland's first export project in August. In March, Hana Bank also signed a business agreement with the Defense Industry Mutual Aid Association for the "K-defense Industry Development and Financial Support," providing comprehensive financial services such as guarantees, loans, consulting, and preferential exchange rates.
