K-Aesthetics Advances with Combination Procedures and Global Medical Education Platforms

As Korea's aesthetic industry advances with a focus on "combination procedures," its status as a global medical training platform is being further strengthened.

According to industry sources on November 24, the recent "ASLS Korea 2025" symposium held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was a prime example of this trend. Hosted by the Korean Society for Aesthetic and Laser Medicine, this event is the largest aesthetic medical device exhibition in Asia, with more than 7,000 participants and about 2,000 overseas medical professionals from eight countries, including Japan, China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asian nations, making it the largest event to date. Speakers from various countries shared combination procedures based on the layer and mechanism of action developed in Korea, exchanging their clinical experiences.

At the symposium, Jaeu Kim, Director of Class One Clinic, emphasized, "Aging does not manifest as a single symptom but as a multi-layered structure, so procedures must be designed for each layer." He introduced a combination strategy involving contouring with thread lifting, elasticity improvement using CaHA (calcium hydroxyapatite), volume supplementation with HA (hyaluronic acid), and skin texture refinement with microtoxin. He stated, "The most natural and consistent clinical results are achieved when the mechanism of action, injection layer, and sequence of each material are precisely designed."

Jisoo Kook, Director of It's Me Clinic, also introduced a safety protocol to reduce vascular complications during CaHA procedures and explained that the effects of combination procedures are more pronounced than those of single treatments. He noted that when training overseas medical professionals, he emphasizes technical principles such as injection depth, sequence, and pressure control rather than focusing on the products themselves.

One of the highlights of this event was the role of the practical global aesthetic education platform established by DNC. By sharing advanced techniques and safety-focused protocols across countries, beyond simple product education, Korea is contributing to strengthening the capabilities of medical professionals not only in Korea but also in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Malaysia.

Dr. Perry from Glory Lift Clinic in Indonesia presented a case of applying combination procedures to Indonesian patients based on Korean training. He shared a real case in which he induced lifting with CaHA, supplemented volume with HA, and completed skin quality improvement with microtoxin. He commented, "Combination procedures are not simply about using multiple products, but about a shift in mindset-designing the entire process for each patient." After returning to Indonesia, he has regularized case reviews with colleagues and disseminated protocols to local medical professionals, leading to improved quality of care.

The trend confirmed at this ASLS Korea demonstrates a virtuous cycle in which advanced combination procedure strategies developed in Korea are being disseminated overseas, and local clinical results are being re-verified on the Korean academic stage. Korean aesthetic medical technology is enhancing the competitiveness of K-Aesthetics through a sophisticated standardization process centered on surgical techniques, and is expanding its influence throughout Asia via global education platforms.
