On November 21, Mercedes-Benz Korea announced the launch of the All-New Mercedes-Maybach SL, the fourth model in the Mercedes-Maybach lineup and the brand's first open-top two-seater roadster. This model, the sportiest in the brand's history, features a new design that organically combines colors and materials throughout the vehicle, centered around the signature Maybach pattern.
The "SL" was unveiled globally for the first time in Pebble Beach, California, in August last year. In Korea, it made its debut at the Maybach Brand Center Seoul, which opened in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in July, where pre-orders began. Deliveries are scheduled to start this month.
The "Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series" is available in two packages: "Red Ambience" and "White Ambience." Upon customer request, the Maybach pattern, completed using an innovative and precise pixel paint process, can be applied to the hood.
The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is the first model to introduce sustainable pixel paint technology from the Sindelfingen plant on the hood. This process requires high precision and partial manual work at each stage. A newly developed tinted clear coat is applied as the top layer of paint, delivering even more vivid and rich color depth.
The interior features crystal white MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather, creating an elegant atmosphere. Nappa leather is used on the door panels, center console, and seats, while the seat covers feature a new floral-inspired design pattern for a graceful ambiance. The rear of the seats is also finished in white leather, and the zinc-plated seat backs and silver chrome trim provide a striking contrast.
Combining a 4.0-liter biturbo engine with a Speedshift MCT 9-speed transmission, the vehicle delivers 585 horsepower. The active ride control suspension suppresses body roll, maintaining a stable posture and enabling agile handling.
The front axle lift system and overall improved suspension movement also contribute to a high level of ride comfort. Standard rear axle steering provides up to 2.5 degrees of rear-wheel steering angle, ensuring a safe and agile driving experience even when cornering.
Additionally, the vehicle supports driving programs such as Comfort, Maybach, Sport, and Individual. In Comfort and Maybach modes, the accelerator pedal response is set to be smoother and more refined, offering drivers a more seamless and luxurious reaction to their inputs.
With top-tier sound insulation, the model delivers the characteristically quiet driving experience of Maybach. Comprehensive soundproofing, including acoustic fleece, aluminum butyl surfaces, and acoustic foam, reduces road noise. An exhaust system optimized for noise reduction and a muffler made from recyclable fiberglass further enhance the vehicle's quietness.
Other standard features include the Driving Assistance Package; the PRE-SAFE system, which takes measures to reduce occupant impact in the event of an imminent collision; Digital Light, which optimally adjusts headlamp brightness based on road lighting, traffic conditions, driving route, and weather; and a remote parking package with a 360° camera, all of which enhance convenience and safety while driving.
The third-generation MBUX infotainment system is also included, allowing users to enjoy a variety of domestic and international third-party applications. The customized "Tmap Auto" is integrated, enabling the use of a linked head-up display and augmented reality navigation. The price is set at 342.6 million won (including VAT and reflecting the individual consumption tax reduction).
