Won Hee-mok, Chairman of Yuhan Foundation, stated, "The Korean Female Pharmacists Association, established in 1990 and now celebrating its 35th anniversary, was launched with the goal of improving public health and social well-being," adding, "I am deeply grateful for your dedication in faithfully fulfilling your calling at home and abroad, based on love, service, and devotion, with the caring hands of a mother."
He continued, "This year's recipient of the Yoo Jae-ra Volunteer Award in the female pharmacist category, pharmacist Doo Jeonghyo, has devoted more than 20 years to preventing drug misuse and helping rehabilitate addicts, both as a pharmacist and a social worker. Helping someone rebuild their life is one of the most humane acts, and it resonates with the spirit of Mrs. Yoo Jae-ra, who sought to leave behind a legacy of 'quiet love and action.'"
In her acceptance speech, pharmacist Doo Jeonghyo said, "Since volunteering in rural areas during my university days and serving as a volunteer at the 1988 Olympics, I have devoted myself to various forms of service such as counseling, education, environmental work, healthcare, and drug prevention. For 45 years, as a pharmacist and counselor, I have accompanied youth, people with disabilities, and youth under probation," adding, "Although I cannot promise how many more days I will be active, I will continue to move forward with a happy heart for tomorrow."
The Yoo Jae-ra Volunteer Award was established in 1992 to honor the spirit of social contribution of Mrs. Yoo Jae-ra, the eldest daughter of the late Dr. Yoo Il-han, founder of Yuhan Corporation. The 'female pharmacist category' was created in collaboration with the Korean Female Pharmacists Association to recognize female pharmacists devoted to public service, and this year marks the 28th recipient.
