Seven Cider to Use 100% Recycled Plastic PET Bottles

Lotte Chilsung Beverage Introduces Recycled Materials in Seven Cider
Expected to Reduce 2,200 Tons of Plastic and 2,900 Tons of Carbon Emissions Annually

Lotte Chilsung Beverage has launched the 500ml Seven Cider PET bottle, the first in South Korea to use 100% recycled plastic material. The company planned this product as a proactive measure ahead of the full implementation of the Ministry of Environment's "Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources."

By using 100% recycled plastic material in the 500ml Seven Cider PET bottle, Lotte Chilsung Beverage expects to reduce plastic usage by approximately 2,200 tons and carbon emissions by about 2,900 tons annually, based on the 2024 sales volume of Seven Cider 500ml bottles.

Additionally, the newly released 500ml Seven Cider PET product features some changes to its label and container design. The product label now displays "100% RECYCLED BOTTLE (corporate self-mark)" to indicate the use of 100% recycled materials. The bottom of the PET bottle, previously rounded, now adopts a bold, angular design with embossed patterns, adding sophistication and improving grip for enhanced user convenience.

Through advertising, Lotte Chilsung Beverage has promoted Seven Cider, Korea's leading cider brand, as taking steps to care for the planet for future generations. The advertisements deliver the message "The first changes everything," depicting a "Migratory Bird" version where a lead bird takes flight followed by a flock of migratory birds, and a "Penguin" version showing a group of penguins diving in after the first penguin jumps into the water.

Seven Cider by Lotte Chilsung Beverage was first launched on May 9, 1950. Loved by the entire nation for more than half a century, the name "Seven Cider" was originally inspired by the idea of naming the product after the seven different surnames of the founders (Chilseong, meaning "seven surnames" in Korean). However, to symbolize the company's commitment to everlasting prosperity, the product was ultimately named "Chilseong," meaning "seven stars."

Seven Cider continues to have a strong presence among younger generations. When a frustrating situation is resolved refreshingly and decisively, or when someone boldly expresses what others hesitate to say, they often describe such moments as "cider"-a term that has come to symbolize a sense of relief and satisfaction.
