SeoulTech Partners with Namyangju City to Build Advanced Industry Ecosystem

Seoul National University of Science and Technology announced on November 21 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province to cooperate on the transformation of the industrial ecosystem and the attraction of advanced industries.

The signing ceremony, held on November 18, was attended by Kim Donghwan, President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology; Joo Gwangdeok, Mayor of Namyangju City; Kang Seungjun, Vice President for External and International Affairs at Seoul National University of Science and Technology; Kim Dongho, Head of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation; Lee Gyemun, President of Namyangju Urban Corporation; and Kim Sangsoo, Head of the Namyangju Future City Promotion Team.


Under this agreement, the two institutions will work together to attract advanced industries centered around the Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex. They will also collaborate on the establishment of infrastructure for advanced industries, including the development of R&D, startup, and research facilities.


In addition, they plan to build a cooperative system in employment sectors, such as nurturing professionals and connecting customized local jobs, with the goal of creating an industrial ecosystem that links research, startups, and employment.


Both sides explained that this agreement marks the starting point for industry-government-academia cooperation to realize Namyangju City's vision of becoming a "Super Growth Era Advanced Industry Hub City," and represents an innovation alliance for building a future-oriented industrial city.


Kim Donghwan, President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, stated, "Based on our university's talent and research capabilities, we will continue a sustainable and innovative partnership with Namyangju City," adding, "This agreement will become a model case of mutual growth among industry, government, and academia."


Mayor Joo Gwangdeok also commented, "Seoul National University of Science and Technology is an innovative university with a wide range of advanced departments, including AI, semiconductors, advanced mobility, and energy, as well as R&D, startup, and industry-academia collaboration programs. Through this agreement, we expect to realize an innovation ecosystem within the Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex, where technological innovation, business growth, and talent development form a virtuous cycle."
