Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province has secured a total project budget of 1 billion won (500 million won in subsidies, 300 million won in loans, and 200 million won in self-funding) after two local sites were finally selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 2026 Livestock ICT Convergence and Expansion Project.
This project is a key government initiative aimed at applying smart technologies throughout the livestock sector, including productivity and efficiency improvements, as well as environmental protection, animal welfare, and disease management. The selected farms will be equipped with advanced ICT-based facilities such as livestock environment monitoring systems, automated feeding and watering equipment, and biometric sensors.
Through this, the county expects not only to reduce production costs and improve quality, but also to strengthen the sustainability of the local livestock industry.
County Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "We will actively promote the smart livestock model to enhance the competitiveness of the local livestock industry," and added, "We will strengthen administrative and technical support to increase farmers' income and realize eco-friendly livestock farming."
