This event served as a preliminary step for the "Startup Rookie Leap Plan" currently being prepared by the ministry, and was conducted as an open discussion-style meeting to reflect the opinions of policy stakeholders-aspiring and early-stage startups-in policy-making. Six startup rookies from various fields-including artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, mobile gaming, and functional foods-participated as panelists, sharing policy proposals and discussing the challenges faced by aspiring and early-stage companies in attracting investment, securing talent, expanding globally, and navigating regulations.
In the second part, a lawyer with an entrepreneurial background delivered a "Basic Legal Lecture for Entrepreneurs," sharing essential practical know-how such as contract drafting and intellectual property protection that is crucial in the early stages of starting a business. As a side event, TIPS operators and others participated to provide on-site investment consultations and mentoring for entrepreneurs.
Minister of SMEs and Startups Hansung Sook stated, "The voices of rookies taking their first steps in entrepreneurship are the starting point of government policy," adding, "From the policy planning stage onward, we will incorporate on-site feedback to develop practical support measures that entrepreneurs can truly experience."
The ministry announced its plan to review the policy proposals suggested by new entrepreneurs during the event and to incorporate them into a comprehensive strategy aimed at establishing Korea as one of the world’s top four startup and venture powerhouses, which is scheduled to be announced within the year.
