Upbit Offers 400 Million Won Worth of BTC for Chuseok Gifts Sent via Mobile Phone Number

Upbit is holding an event for Chuseok, offering a total of 400 million won worth of Bitcoin (BTC) to users who gift virtual assets to family or friends using their mobile phone numbers.

Dunamu, a blockchain and fintech company, announced on October 1 that it will run the "Chuseok Digital Asset Gift Event" until the 12th of this month.

The "Mobile Phone Number Withdrawal" feature, which was added in September, allows users to easily send and receive virtual assets within Upbit by simply entering the recipient's real name and mobile phone number.

Upbit users can quickly and conveniently transfer virtual assets by entering the recipient's mobile phone number, without the need to input a complicated wallet address. There are no additional fees.

The recipient can confirm the deposit notification via KakaoTalk AlimTalk or SMS and must complete the "Receive Deposit" process within 72 hours. Even those who are not existing Upbit users can receive virtual assets, but to claim them, they must sign up for Upbit and complete customer verification.

To celebrate Chuseok, Dunamu has prepared an event in which the first 10,000 Upbit users who send virtual assets using the "Mobile Phone Number Withdrawal" feature will each receive Bitcoin worth 10,000 won.

To participate, users must ▲ click the "Participate" button on the "Chuseok Event" page within the Upbit website or application, then ▲ enter the mobile phone number of a family member or friend to send a virtual asset as a gift. The event participation is completed when the recipient clicks the "Receive Deposit" button within 72 hours to claim the virtual asset. The Bitcoin prize will be awarded only once per account, regardless of the number of times virtual assets are sent.

An additional event with a total of 2 Bitcoin as prizes will also be held. During the event period, Upbit will select one user who invites a first-time new member using the "Mobile Phone Number Withdrawal" feature, and award them 1 Bitcoin. The more new members a user invites, the higher their chances of winning.

Conversely, during the event period, one user who receives a virtual asset as a gift via the "Mobile Phone Number Withdrawal" feature and signs up for Upbit for the first time will also be selected by lottery to receive 1 Bitcoin. An Upbit representative stated, "When withdrawing via mobile phone number, you can write a short message on the gift card to express your feelings to the recipient," and added, "We hope many users considering a special Chuseok gift will participate in this event."
