In his commemorative speech, Mayor Lee Hyunjae said, "I would like to thank the citizens who have waited for so long. I expect that the Gamil Multipurpose Complex Community Center will become a key hub for sports, culture, and education in the Gamil district."
He further emphasized, "We will do our utmost to ensure that this space, equipped with the latest facilities and a pleasant environment, becomes a source of pride for our citizens."
The Gamil Multipurpose Complex Community Center was built with a total project cost of 51.8 billion won, featuring a total floor area of 9,327 square meters, spanning one basement level and three above-ground floors. As a community-oriented complex space where residents can enjoy sports, cultural, and educational services in one place, it is expected to inject new vitality into the Gamil district, which has previously lacked such amenities.
Looking at the facilities, the basement level houses a 25-meter, five-lane swimming pool, offering a variety of programs such as adult and elementary swimming classes, free swimming, and aqua aerobics. After a pilot operation from October 2 to 23, the pool will officially open on November 1, with program registration available until October 17. Successful applicants will be announced on October 24.
The first floor features a table tennis hall with six tables, reflecting citizen demand, as well as spaces for meetings, creative activities, movement, and a studio-allowing citizens to freely engage in various activities. There is also a multipurpose hall suitable for small-scale performances and exhibitions. The community culture center will begin pilot operation on October 20 ahead of its official opening on November 1, during which time club recruitment and space usage applications will be accepted.
The second floor includes a multipurpose gymnasium, a GX room, and a fitness center. The multipurpose gymnasium supports a range of sports such as badminton, basketball, and futsal, while the GX room offers 15 different programs, including yoga, Zumba dance, ballet, and Pilates, all highly demanded by citizens. The fitness center is equipped with the latest exercise equipment and a customized exercise prescription system based on body composition analysis to help citizens manage their health.
Part of the second floor is also designed as a library, featuring a children's room, an infant room, a book lounge, and a rest area with a collection of about 14,000 books. This provides a friendly reading environment for children and a space for families to enjoy both relaxation and reading together.
The entire third floor is dedicated to the library, with a general collection room holding about 16,000 books and 73 seats. The digital resource room is equipped with 11 PCs to support study and information searches, and a newly added reading room with 15 seats, reflecting citizen feedback, will serve as a space for study and self-development.

This year, following the opening of the Deokpung Sports and Culture Center, Hanam City is accelerating the expansion of community sports infrastructure by consecutively opening the Gamil Multipurpose Complex Community Center. With this opening, comprehensive sports infrastructure has now been established in the Misa, Pungsan, original downtown, and Gamil districts, enabling balanced services for local residents.
Additionally, the city plans to steadily push forward with the Wirye Multipurpose Sports Facility, scheduled for completion in March 2026, to further expand community infrastructure in line with population growth.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae stated, "We will focus on expanding the foundation so that citizens can conveniently access sports and cultural facilities close to home," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the Gamil Multipurpose Complex Community Center becomes a platform for daily culture that enhances the quality of life for citizens and elevates the dignity of our city."
