The exercise was conducted at Chaemijeong Pavilion, located on Geumosan Mountain in Namtong-dong, Gumi City, which is designated as Scenic Site No. 52 by the state. The drill simulated a forest fire scenario and was structured to allow each related organization to perform its designated roles through joint firefighting efforts.
The key training components included: ▲ immediate fire reporting and evacuation by those present; ▲ removal of cultural assets and installation of fire-resistant covers on large structures to protect important cultural heritage; and ▲ division of tasks and execution of roles through situation assessment meetings among related organizations.
Cho Yoohyun, Chief of Gumi Fire Station, stated, "Wooden cultural heritage sites adjacent to forests are highly vulnerable to fire, and due to geographical factors, it is difficult for firefighters to respond quickly. Therefore, fire prevention by visitors is more important than anything else. In the event of a fire, we will take the lead in fire prevention and cultural heritage protection by maintaining an organic cooperation system with related organizations and continuing regular drills to ensure a swift and effective response."
