The Space Design major at Sangmyung University has once again solidified its reputation as a leading department in domestic spatial design education, with a total of 10 teams winning awards, including the Grand Prize and the Excellence Award, at the Korea Interior Design Competition.

On September 4, Sangmyung University announced that its Space Design major had achieved outstanding results at the Korea Interior Design Competition, the most prestigious event of its kind in Korea, with 10 teams receiving awards, including the Grand Prize and the Excellence Award.

The Grand Prize was awarded to the work titled "Happiness in Memory with All Our Hearts" by Donggeon Kim and Sebum Choi, both seniors, and Seokhyun Kim, a junior.

Their project was highly praised for creating a dementia-friendly multi-cultural space for dementia patients and their families, designed to help seniors record and recall their memories through a variety of sensory stimulation programs.

The Excellence Award went to "Flowers Blooming in Briquettes" by seniors Minseok Choi and Doyoung Jang.

Their proposal to regenerate the abandoned Jangseong Mine in Taebaek as a multi-cultural space that both commemorates the lives and sacrifices of miners and serves as a regional landmark drew significant attention.

In addition, three teams won Special Awards, two teams received Encouragement Awards, and three teams were selected as Finalists, bringing the total number of awarded teams to 10.

Professor Lee Haengwoo, the head of the department, stated, "The fact that our students have developed their in-school projects and achieved such great results in a national competition demonstrates the strength of our department," adding, "We will continue to enhance our education to foster both creativity and practical skills."

Meanwhile, the Space Design major at Sangmyung University, which established the first four-year interior design curriculum in Korea, continues to build its reputation as a prestigious program in the field of spatial design, with annual competition wins and academic research achievements.
