Lawyers accused of providing money and valuables to police officers in order to secure criminal cases have been brought to trial.
According to the legal community on August 21, the Busan District Prosecutors' Office's Violent Crime Investigation Division (headed by Acting Chief Prosecutor Choi Geunyoung) recently indicted Lawyer A under detention on charges of bribery and violation of the Attorney-at-Law Act, while Lawyer B was indicted without detention.
Lawyer A and others are accused of regularly providing money and valuables to police officers in order to be assigned as defense counsel in criminal cases investigated by the police. It is known that Lawyer B maintained this relationship even after leaving Lawyer A's law firm and starting an independent practice.
