The Foundation for Large, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture, Fisheries Cooperation announced on the 20th that, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, it will implement the "2025 Rural ESG Practice Recognition Program."
The Rural ESG Practice Recognition Program evaluates the rural win-win cooperation and ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) activities of companies and organizations based on a total of 33 indicators and additional scoring items across the three ESG categories. Companies and organizations that score 80 points or more out of a possible 110 points are ultimately selected for recognition.
Since 2022, the Foundation has implemented the Practice Recognition Program as part of efforts to revitalize the Rural Win-Win Cooperation Fund. Recently, to address the crisis of rural extinction by leveraging the growing trend of ESG management, the eligibility for participation has been expanded to include all companies and organizations engaged in ESG-related activities, such as certified rural social contribution companies, in addition to those contributing to the Rural Win-Win Cooperation Fund.
Selected companies and organizations will receive a recognition plaque, as well as various benefits such as government awards (including commendations from the Ministers of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries, and Industry), preferential access to policy funds, comprehensive rural ESG consulting, and promotional support for exemplary cases.
Companies and organizations wishing to participate must complete and submit an application form to the Foundation for Win-Win Cooperation by September 19. Further details can be found in the notices section of the official website of the Rural Win-Win Cooperation Fund.
Byun Taeseop, Secretary General of the Foundation for Win-Win Cooperation, stated, "ESG is becoming increasingly important for sustainable business management," and added, "We hope for active interest and participation so that corporate ESG activities can spread to rural areas."
