On August 3, Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, congratulated Jeong Cheongrae on his election as leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stating, "I expect that Jeollanam-do's key projects, such as the establishment of a national medical school and the creation of a renewable energy hub, will proceed without any setbacks."

Through his congratulatory message on this day, Governor Kim Yungrok expressed his expectations by highlighting the significance of Jeong Cheongrae's visit to the Naju flood recovery site as his first official activity as party leader.

Jeong Cheongrae is recognized as a competent and reform-minded politician, possessing both rich political experience and leadership, having served four terms as a National Assembly member, chair of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and joint election campaign chair for Gwangju and Jeollanam-do.

During the impeachment proceedings triggered by Yoon Sukyeol’s illegal 12·3 emergency martial law, he played a pivotal role as the National Assembly’s impeachment manager, leading to the dismissal of Yoon Sukyeol?a long-held wish of the people. During the 22nd presidential election, he also served as joint election campaign chair for Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, tirelessly canvassing every neighborhood in the Honam region, which resulted in a record-high voter turnout and overwhelming support.

Governor Kim Yungrok stated, "As the greatest contributor to the birth of the Lee Jaemyung administration, I believe he will support its success and help build a stronger Democratic Party."

He continued, "I vividly remember seeing him sweat as he worked on flood recovery efforts in Jeollanam-do, which was recently hit by severe rainfall. Hearing that his first official activity as party leader would be to visit the Naju flood recovery site, I could truly feel his special affection for Jeollanam-do," expressing his anticipation that the region's key projects would be carried out without delay.

Governor Kim Yungrok also added, "Jeollanam-do will wholeheartedly support the new Democratic Party that Jeong Cheongrae will build, hoping it will be reborn as a democratic and reformist party loved even more by the people," and extended warm words of consolation to candidate Park Chandae, who worked hard as part of the one team.
