Sookmyung University and Dongjak Gwanak Office of Education Sign MOU for Local Education Development

Sookmyung University announced on May 20 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Dongjak Gwanak Office of Education to promote the development of local education.

The signing ceremony was held on May 16 at Baird Hall on campus to establish a new educational model that strengthens student-centered learning and enhances teacher competencies in line with the AI and digital era.

The ceremony was attended by Yong Moon, Vice President for Research and Industry-Academic Cooperation at Sookmyung University; Jongkyu Lee, CEO of Flexmass; Dalyeong Jeong, Honorary Professor; and other representatives from Sookmyung University. From the Dongjak Gwanak Office of Education, attendees included Younghwa Kim, Superintendent, and Gapcheol Kim, Director of Educational Support, among others.

With this agreement, the two organizations plan to build a practical model for collaboration in the local education field and to continue a close partnership to create a sustainable educational ecosystem.

Specifically, the agreement outlines cooperation in the following areas: joint development and operation of customized educational programs for students; collaborative implementation of AI and digital-based teacher training and research activities; establishment of an educational cooperation system between Flexmass and the Center for Math and Science Convergence Education; and discovery and operation of other joint projects to advance local education.

Vice President Moon stated, "Convergence education based on mathematics and science forms an important foundation for developing the core competencies needed in the AI and digital era," and added, "We look forward to expanding various collaborative programs with the Dongjak Office of Education to further the development of local education through this agreement."

Meanwhile, a separate memorandum of understanding was also signed between Flexmass, a university-affiliated company under Sookmyung University, and the Dongjak Gwanak Center for Math and Science Convergence Education (Mathematics).
