Volkswagen Korea is emerging as a leading electrification brand with the pure electric SUV 'ID.4' and the coupe-style electric SUV 'ID.5', which is scheduled for customer delivery next month.
According to industry sources on the 25th, the ID.4 has achieved cumulative domestic sales of 5,295 units from its first launch in Korea in 2022 through February. Even in a situation where overall electric vehicle sales have recently declined, the ID.4 remains popular.
According to the Korea Imported Automobile Association, the ID.4 sold 375 units last month, ranking second among imported electric vehicles excluding the Model Y. It ranks ninth among all fuel type models.
The 2025 model ID.4 is equipped with a powerful and efficient drive system, delivering a maximum output of 286 horsepower (PS) and a maximum torque of 55.6 kg.m. Compared to the previous model, the maximum output has increased by 40%, and the maximum torque by 75%.
The driving range per single charge is certified at a combined 424 km, and the government-certified energy consumption efficiency is a combined 4.9 km/kWh. The fast charging speed has also improved by 30%, allowing 80% charge in 28 minutes. With a government subsidy of 4.22 million KRW, local government subsidies (based on Seoul), and purchase benefits applied, the Pro Lite can be purchased for around 38.87 million KRW, and the Pro for around 44.61 million KRW.
The ID.5 adds a dynamic coupe style to the fundamentals of the ID.4. Designed on the electric vehicle-exclusive MEB platform, it offers excellent space utilization. Along with superior aerodynamic performance, it features a powerful and efficient drive system, a large new infotainment system with convenient and intuitive controls, and advanced specifications such as the voice assistant 'IDA'.
A Volkswagen official stated, "As one of the brands leading the electric vehicle market, we will embark on a full-scale effort to strengthen our electric vehicle leadership in Korea as well," adding, "Starting with electric SUVs, we will stand out in the electric vehicle market."
