Ulsan City Discusses Cooperation with Uzbekistan on Workforce Training

Highlighting the Importance of Human Resource Exchange Projects, Including the Opening of a Local Workforce Training Center
The city of Ulsan announced that its overseas delegation, currently visiting Uzbekistan and led by Kim Dookyum, will hold discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister of Economy and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on the 17th.
This meeting, arranged at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, aims to discuss cooperation measures for the successful implementation of Ulsan’s overseas workforce training project for the shipbuilding industry.
The Ulsan delegation will first meet with Olimjon Abdullayev, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, at 12:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. Korean time) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
At 3:00 p.m., they will then hold a discussion with Jamshid Khojaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Economy.
During these meetings, Mayor Kim Dookyum plans to introduce the industrial status and characteristics of Ulsan, known as the industrial capital of Korea, and highlight the importance of human resource exchange projects between the two countries through the establishment of a local workforce training center.
In particular, he will explain the metropolitan visa pilot project (E-7) and the Ulsan-type employment permit system pilot project (E-9), which can be designed and operated by Ulsan, and emphasize the importance of local training.
He will also stress the importance of Korean language and culture education for migrant workers to facilitate smooth communication in the workplace and quick adaptation to the local community, and request the role and cooperation of the Uzbek government.
The Ulsan-type employment permit system pilot project is a program in which the Ministry of Employment and Labor of Korea allows personnel who have completed training at the workforce development center in Uzbekistan to be employed at shipbuilding companies in the Ulsan region.
