Chungnam Province announced on the 4th that it will conduct joint inspections of fugitive dust-generating businesses from the 5th to the 26th to prepare for high concentrations of fine dust during the spring season.
This joint inspection will be carried out by organizing 16 teams consisting of 61 members, including special judicial police officers from the province and cities/counties, as well as officials from city and county environmental departments. The inspections will target large construction sites and businesses with frequent complaints related to fugitive dust.
The main focus of the inspection will be on whether businesses have reported changes related to fugitive dust generation, whether wheel washing and cleaning facilities are installed and operated, whether water spraying is being conducted on-site, and whether dust barriers and covers for stored materials are installed.
According to the Clean Air Conservation Act, a fine of up to 3 million won may be imposed for failing to report fugitive dust-generating businesses or not implementing dust suppression measures, and a fine of up to 1 million won may be imposed for failing to report changes.
Yoon Taeno, head of the Social Disaster Division, said, "By inspecting facilities that generate fugitive dust during the fine dust seasonal management period, we will contribute to reducing fine dust emissions," and added, "We will do our best to protect the health of our residents."
