원본보기 아이콘A man in his 20s was caught by the police for reckless driving while driving an SUV in the wrong direction on the road from Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province to Nowon-gu, Seoul.
On the 4th, the Namyangju Southern Police Station announced that a man in his 20s, Mr. A, was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (reckless driving). Mr. A is suspected of driving an SUV in the wrong direction and driving recklessly from Ilpae-dong, Namyangju-si to Wolgye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul at around 3:30 p.m. on the 3rd.
According to a video shared on social networking services (SNS) at the time, Mr. A drove the SUV straight along a one-way 4-lane road. Oncoming cars slowed down to avoid collision with Mr. A’s vehicle.
The police, who responded to reports from witnesses, apprehended Mr. A in Nowon-gu, Seoul. At the scene, it was confirmed that Mr. A was neither under the influence of alcohol or drugs nor an unlicensed driver. However, it is known that he had obtained his driver’s license only recently.
A police official stated, "We plan to summon Mr. A in the afternoon for a detailed drug test," adding, "We are analyzing the reported video and CCTV footage to determine the travel distance. The reason for driving in the wrong direction can only be confirmed after investigation."
