Request for Redevelopment Plan Decision for District 3 to Be Submitted This Month

Reconstruction of Apgujeong apartments is set to accelerate. Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 22nd that it has completed all requests for redevelopment plan decisions from Apgujeong Districts 2 to 5 by submitting the redevelopment plan for Apgujeong District 3 to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 20th.

The request for redevelopment plan decisions is the first step in actively promoting reconstruction. The association and the district office cooperated to speed up reconstruction, achieving the result of taking less than a year from residents' proposals to plan submission.

Apgujeong Districts 2 to 5 are part of Seoul's Rapid Integrated Planning project. In July 2023, Seoul established guidelines for this project, and the association submitted a redevelopment plan reflecting these guidelines as much as possible to Gangnam-gu.

The district office actively communicated with the association and swiftly completed all procedures over the past year, including public viewing by residents and hearing opinions from the district council, proceeding with requests for redevelopment plan decisions in the order of District 2 (September 2024), District 4 (November), District 5 (December), and District 3 (January 2025).

In the case of Apgujeong District 2, the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Urban Planning Committee (Delegated Subcommittee) approved a revised redevelopment plan last November, adjusting the maximum height to below 250 meters (65 floors). The association largely accepted this, enabling the redevelopment project to proceed quickly.

The revised plan is currently undergoing a second public viewing by residents from the 17th of this month until the 17th of next month, and the final redevelopment plan decision is expected to be officially announced in the first half of this year.

District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “With all requests for redevelopment plan decisions for the Apgujeong Rapid Integrated Planning districts completed, reconstruction in this area will be actively promoted. We will continue to cooperate closely with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to ensure that reconstruction in the Apgujeong area proceeds swiftly.”
