Cheon Dae-yeop, the head of the Court Administration Office, a judicial administrative body under the Supreme Court, will visit the Seoul Western District Court on the 19th to inspect the site where supporters of President Yoon Seok-yeol stormed in.
On the same day, Cheon held an emergency countermeasure meeting at the Supreme Court to assess the damage related to the intrusion by protesters at the Seoul Western District Court and discussed court security measures. The meeting was attended by Bae Hyung-won, Deputy Director of the Administration Office, senior officials at the director level, and related review officers.
The Court Administration Office reportedly monitored the situation from early dawn when President Yoon’s supporters broke into the court and caused disturbances, while also engaging in online discussions.
In a statement released that morning, Cheon expressed regret over the protesters' intrusion, calling it "a total denial of the rule of law and a serious challenge," and emphasized that "strict legal responsibility must follow."
Earlier, around 3 a.m., supporters of President Yoon who were protesting near the Western District Court stormed the court after news of the issuance of an arrest warrant was announced, breaking the main gate and glass windows, and damaging furniture and facilities.
