Goyang City to Open Seongseok~Munbong Urban Planning Road on the 30th

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it will open Section 2-1 (0.72 km) of the ‘Seongseok~Munbong Urban Planning Road (Soro Line 1-213) (total length 2.6 km, width 10 m),’ which connects Seongseok-dong and Munbong-dong in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang City, on the 30th, following the opening of Section 1 (0.9 km) in 2020.

This road is a village road connecting Seongseok-dong (Gobong 10 Tong) and Munbong-dong (Gobong 16 Tong, connected to Gyeondalsan-ro). Through the opening of this road, the long-standing wish of local residents, who have experienced inconvenience due to the narrow road width (3~4 m), can be resolved.

At the same time, it is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by improving the logistics mobility of local small business owners.

In particular, the newly opened road is the first road to apply the “Goyang Special City Sidewalk Maintenance Guidelines” prepared by Goyang City in 2024. Considering the convenience of elderly local residents and vulnerable pedestrians, large sidewalk blocks with high flatness and lowered road curbs were applied to create a more comfortable and pleasant walking environment.

Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, said, “I hope that the opening of this road will resolve the long-standing wishes of the residents of Seongseok and Munbong-dong,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the remaining Section 2-2 is opened early in 2025.”
