The main event of the nation's largest reading festival, the '2024 Korea Reading Festival,' will be held for three days from the 27th to the 29th at the Yeongildae Marine Pavilion and surrounding areas.
Since being selected as the host city for the '2024 Korea Reading Festival,' Pohang City has been running a variety of reading-related events and programs throughout the region all year round since January.
In particular, the main event of the Reading Festival, which will take place for three days starting on the 27th at Yeongildae Beach, will feature 142 diverse programs, including lectures, book talks, book fairs, academic discussions, hands-on experiences, performances, and exhibitions.
On the 27th, the opening day of the Reading Festival, comedian and singer Park Myungsoo, known as the 'Prince of the Sea,' will present an exciting performance. Authors such as Lee Geumi, famous for novels like 'Yujin and Yujin,' as well as Jaehee, Song Heegu, Kim Yurim, and Lee Youngrim, will hold meet-and-greet sessions with readers.
On the 28th, the 'Biblio Battle,' a book review competition among reading clubs, will be held. Popular singer and author Jang Kiha and Hans Christian Andersen Award-winning author Lee Suzy, as well as Korean history star lecturer Jeon Hangil and authors Kim Hyeyoung, Kim Jin, Kim Yeona, Nam Hee, Choi Lucia, Kwon Minji, Na Dawool, Ban Jisoo, Kim Hyejeong, Kwon Eunjeong, Oh Sena, Kim Soom, and Kim Salome, will host various lectures and book talks.
On the final day, the 29th, there will be a meet-and-greet with this year's Pohang One Book authors Jeong Bora and Choi Sohee, as well as the One Book Quiz King contest.
Additionally, civil servant YouTuber Chungjumann Kim Seontae, along with Hwang Jiyeong, Lee Dongjoo, Yoon Siki, Shin Jeongmin, Kim Seonmi, Nanju, Lee Jongcheol, Kim Ilgwang, and Seo Sookhee, will appear to share delightful stories related to books.
At the main event of this year's Reading Festival, 70 publishers from across the country will participate in a variety of programs and book fairs. There will also be ongoing exhibitions such as the Sea Picture Book Exhibition, Local Authors Exhibition, Rare Books Exhibition, Participating Authors Book Exhibition, Ban Jisoo Illustration Exhibition, and Dokdo Photo Exhibition.
In addition, forums and seminars such as the Children's Book Ecosystem Forum, the 20th Anniversary Symposium of Reading Aloud, the Book City Roundtable, and the East Sea Seminar will be held.
The main event of the 2024 Korea Reading Festival will take place at the Yeongildae Marine Pavilion and venues such as Lahan Hotel. The festival will run from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 27th and 28th, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 29th.
