Jeon Hun-young (Incheon City Hall), the 'eldest sister' of the women's archery national team, advanced to the round of 16 in the 2024 Paris Olympics individual event, following the youngest Nam Su-hyun (19, Suncheon City Hall).
On the 1st (local time), Jeon Hun-young is aiming at the target in the round of 64 match against Penny Healy of Great Britain in the women's individual archery event at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at Les Invalides in Paris, France.

On the 2nd (Korean time), Jeon Hun-young won 7-1 (28-25 29-29 27-26 30-26) against Germany's Charline Schwarz in the women's individual round of 32 held at Les Invalides in Paris, France.
Previously, in the round of 64, Jeon Hun-young made a comeback victory over Penny Healy (Great Britain) with a score of 6-2 (27-28 28-26 28-25 29-25). In the round of 32, she did not lose a single set and advanced directly to the round of 16.
With Jeon Hun-young advancing to the round of 16, two members of the women's archery national team have progressed to the round of 16 following Nam Su-hyun the day before. Ace Lim Si-hyun (Korea National Sport University) is scheduled to compete in the round of 64 at 1:32 a.m. and the round of 32 at 1:58 a.m. on the same day.
Jeon Hun-young took the initiative from the first set. Starting with 9 points on the first and second arrows, Jeon hit a 10 on the third arrow. Schwarz began to falter with two 8-point shots.
In the second set, where Schwarz shot first, Jeon Hun-young's concentration stood out. At a tied score of 19-19, Schwarz seemed to gain the upper hand by shooting a 10 first. In a situation where only a 10-point shot could secure a draw and earn 1 point, Jeon responded steadily by hitting a 10.
In the third set, she showed composure overcoming even the unexpected presence of a bee. While Jeon was drawing her bowstring, a bee flew in, but she calmly hit a 10 with her second arrow. Although the third arrow unfortunately scored 8 points, she was already comfortably ahead, winning the third set 27-26.
In the fourth set, Schwarz fought hard with consecutive 9-point shots, but Jeon Hun-young demonstrated overwhelming performance by shooting consecutive 10s. Jeon finished the round of 32 lightly with ‘ten-ten-ten’ by hitting 10 points on the last arrow as well.
Jeon Hun-young will face Taiwan's Lei Chien-ying in the round of 16. With Nam Su-hyun having secured advancement to the round of 16 the day before, if ace Lim Si-hyun, who will soon compete in the round of 32, also advances, all three Korean players will reach the round of 16.
All three athletes are challenging for medals on their first Olympic stage. Earlier, the Korean women's team won the gold medal in the women's team event held on the 28th, achieving a 10th consecutive victory in this category.
The men's team also achieved a three-peat in the men's team event, meaning Korea has won both gold medals awarded in archery so far.
