According to the West Sea Coast Guard Agency on the 8th, influxes of Sargassum horneri and red tide phenomena occur seasonally, and marine pollution and illegal fishing have not been eradicated, necessitating surveillance and prevention activities using aircraft.
Accordingly, the West Sea Coast Guard Agency's Muan Fixed-Wing Aviation Unit plans to visit the Jeonnam Provincial Office, Pusan National University, and the National Institute of Fisheries Science in May to collaborate on △ sharing fishing characteristics by sea area △ devising measures to minimize red tide damage △ mastering response procedures for situations such as marine pollution and illegal fishing.
A representative of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency Aviation Unit stated, “Through close cooperation among government, academia, and research institutes, we will proactively respond to environmental changes threatening the livelihoods of the people, such as Sargassum horneri and red tides, and establish a fixed-wing aviation mission system utilizing advanced technology to take the lead in protecting public safety and property.”
