In the Chungnam Cheonan-byeong electoral district, Lee Jeong-moon of the Democratic Party comfortably defeated Lee Chang-soo of the People Power Party by a margin of 13,091 votes, successfully returning to the National Assembly.
Ahead of the 22nd general election, the Cheonan-byeong district underwent redistricting, with Cheongnyong-dong moving to 'Cheonan-gap' and Buldang 1 and 2-dong moving to 'Cheonan-byeong,' making the voting tendencies in these areas a focal point of attention.
As a result, Democratic Party candidate Lee Jeong-moon won with 53,189 votes, surpassing People Power Party candidate Lee Chang-soo, who received 40,098 votes.
Notably, Buldang 1 and 2-dong, which moved to the 'Cheonan-byeong' district for the first time due to redistricting, gave 16,678 votes to Lee Jeong-moon and 10,966 votes to Lee Chang-soo. In Buldang-dong alone, the vote difference of 5,712 accounted for nearly half of the margin between the two candidates, significantly influencing the election outcome.
Candidate Lee Jeong-moon stated, "This general election result is the stern mandate of the citizens of Cheonan to 'judge the incompetent and arrogant Yoon Seok-yeol administration and achieve development and greater progress for Cheonan!'" He added, "I will immediately convene the National Assembly and work closely with the ruling party to devise measures, including the payment of a 'Livelihood Recovery Support Fund' to resolve the emergency situation of the livelihood economy. As a re-elected lawmaker, I will devote all my capabilities to reviving South Korea's economy and livelihood in crisis."
He continued, "I will make the five visions promised to the citizens of Cheonan during the campaign a reality," and added, "I will do greater work and greater politics for Cheonan."
