Dongguk University announced on the 5th that two startup incubation centers under Dongguk University have been finally selected for the '2024 Specialized Capability Startup Incubation Center (BI) Development Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The Specialized Capability Startup Incubation Center Development Support Project is a program supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to enable each startup incubation center to independently develop incubation programs. It is promoted to induce specialization of startup incubation centers and support the growth of resident companies.
By support type, the Startup Incubation Center at Dongguk University Seoul Campus was selected for the 'Industry-Academia Cooperation Type' project. The Industry-Academia Cooperation Type supports resident companies to develop industry-academia cooperation programs by utilizing the human and physical resources owned by the university and helps activate startups by professors or students.
Through this project selection, the Seoul Campus Startup Incubation Center will receive related support to solve technology management difficulties through faculty matching between the university and startup companies and to transfer excellent technologies owned by the school.
The BMC Startup Incubation Center at Dongguk University Goyang Campus was selected for the 'Industry Specialization Type' support project. The Industry Specialization Type is a program that supports discovering startup companies in regional key industry fields and specialized industry fields based on the characteristics and strengths of the university. Through this, it is expected to receive matching and collaboration support with leading bio or medical companies.
The project period is up to two years starting this year, with a total support amount of 1.16 billion KRW. The Seoul Campus Startup Incubation Center and the BMC Startup Incubation Center will each receive 500 million KRW and 660 million KRW, respectively.
Yoo Kwang-ho, Director of the Startup Technology Institute at Dongguk University, said, “Through this project, we plan to contribute to industry-academia cooperation by utilizing the excellent resources possessed by the startup university,” adding, “We will solidify the cooperation system with internal and external startup innovation entities to actively support startup companies and lead regional innovation.”
