Samjong KPMG to Host 'Europe ESG Disclosure Response Seminar' on 21st

Samjong KPMG announced on the 15th that it will hold the "Europe ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Disclosure Response Seminar" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul on the 21st.

At this seminar, participants will review cases of ESG disclosure implementation such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) for European Union (EU) companies and issues encountered during the implementation process. Additionally, the seminar will explore operational know-how for ESG disclosure organizations, share trends in EU disclosure regulations, and present response cases of overseas companies entering the European market. The CSRD will be enforced starting this year and will apply to local subsidiaries of Korean companies within the EU from next year. Export companies targeting the EU and companies related to supply chains may also be indirectly affected.

In the seminar presentations, Junghwan Hwang, Executive Director at Samjong KPMG, will explain overall trends and implications of global ESG disclosure regulations. Jan Hendrik Gnendinger, Head of KPMG Global ESG Disclosure Services, will discuss the latest trends and practical issues of the CSRD, and Roxana Meschke, KPMG Germany ESG Partner, will introduce the latest trends of the CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive), its impact on Korean companies, and response strategies. Partners Gnendinger and Meschke will also present an ‘EU case study’ covering overall ESG disclosure responses.

Lee Dongsuk, Vice President and Leader of Samjong KPMG ESG Business Group, stated, “It is essential to establish a disclosure strategy at the Korean headquarters level due to mandatory disclosure requirements,” and added, “We hope this seminar will provide an opportunity to preemptively review the CSRD implementation cases and issues of European listed companies and reduce trial and error for Korean companies.”
