'45th Anniversary' O'Sulloc, Leading Korea's Indigenous Tea Culture

Tea brand OSULLOC celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. OSULLOC was launched in 1979 when Seonghwan Seo, the founder of Amorepacific and the previous chairman, began cultivating barren land in the Dosun area southwest of Hallasan Mountain in Jeju Island into green tea fields to revive Korea's unique traditional tea culture. Amorepacific developed OSULLOC’s organic tea fields spanning one million pyeong from Seogwang and Dolsongi to Hannam throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

The OSULLOC Jeju tea fields possess five essential elements?soil, water, light, wind, and fog?that allow the delicate tea plants to grow robustly. The volcanic ash soil of the OSULLOC tea fields has a high organic matter content, providing a solid foundation for tea plants to thrive. The warm light and pure water of Jeju help the tender tea leaves grow healthier. The entire OSULLOC tea field, covering about one million pyeong, experiences strong winds year-round that promote air circulation and maximize nutrient absorption by the tea leaves. Fog also acts as a natural shading effect, making the color of the tea leaves more vivid.

OSULLOC strengthens its tea varieties through long-standing experience in green tea cultivation and scientific research achievements. Through ▲organic farming ▲shade cultivation ▲new variety development, they strive to allow more consumers to enjoy the health benefits of tea. An OSULLOC representative stated, "With the experience and scientific research gained from cultivating Jeju’s barren land into fertile tea fields over a long time, we offer a variety of products ranging from the highest-grade Masters Tea line, including Jeju Haechas, to flavorful blended teas and convenient tea foods."
