This event is the largest food ingredient exhibition in Southeast Asia, with over 600 global food ingredient companies and distributors participating, and more than 20,000 food-related professionals from 40 countries visiting.
Samyang participated for the first time to identify food ingredient suppliers in major Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, and to secure customers. During the event, about 4,500 visitors came to the promotional booth.
Samyang exhibited allulose and indigestible maltodextrin and provided various tasting samples such as energy bars, jelly, and biscuits containing these ingredients to help visitors understand them.
Allulose is a sweet component found in figs and grapes that provides a sweetness similar to sugar but with zero calories, making it an alternative sweetener. Samyang is accelerating the global expansion of allulose under the brand name "Nexweet."
Previously, Samyang succeeded in mass-producing liquid allulose in 2016 using its self-developed enzyme and began producing crystalline (powder) allulose in 2022. Crystalline allulose is easier to handle than liquid form, making it convenient for export, and its form is identical to regular granulated sugar, allowing easy application in various fields including bakeries.
Another exhibited ingredient, indigestible maltodextrin, is a water-soluble dietary fiber with a dietary fiber content of over 85%, which can aid bowel movement, suppress postprandial blood sugar rise, and improve blood triglyceride levels, making it a health functional food raw material.
Lee Sang-hoon, head of Samyang’s Food Business Unit (BU), said, "This food ingredient exhibition was very helpful in broadening our understanding of the Southeast Asian food ingredient market and exploring ways to expand sales channels. We will continue to promote Samyang’s excellent specialty ingredients domestically and internationally and strive to open new paths for overseas expansion."
