Samsung Electronics Launches 'ViewFinity S9', 5K Ultra-High Resolution Monitor for Graphic Design

Samsung Electronics announced on the 26th that it will launch the 5K ultra-high-resolution monitor for graphic design, 'ViewFinity S9 (S90PC)', in the domestic market. Following the introduction of the UHD high-resolution monitor 'ViewFinity S8 (S80PB)' for content creators in June last year, Samsung Electronics has strengthened its high-resolution monitor lineup by releasing the ultra-high-resolution 5K ViewFinity S9 this time.

The ViewFinity S9 features a 27-inch (68.4 cm) size with 5K (5120 x 2880) ultra-high resolution, delivering image quality of 218 PPI (pixels per inch). With 5K ultra-high resolution, screen splitting is easy, allowing 4K or higher content to be color adjusted and edited in its original quality.

It supports a maximum brightness of 600 nits and can reproduce up to 99% of colors based on DCI-P3 standards. Notably, this product is the first monitor to feature a 'Smart Calibration' function, enabling users to adjust the monitor's color and brightness to desired values using a smartphone. By running the 'SmartThings' app and holding the smartphone camera over the center of the ViewFinity S9 screen, users can select brightness, gamma values, color temperature, and color gamut standards according to the setting mode to configure their preferred colors. Additionally, factory calibration during production enhances the monitor's color accuracy, and consumers can check the calibration results on the monitor's settings screen.

The ViewFinity S9 applies a matte display that minimizes light reflection, providing a consistent level of brightness and color for work without the need for a separate shading hood. It has also received 'Glare Free' certification from UL, a global safety certification company. Furthermore, it supports both Thunderbolt 4 with up to 90W charging and up to 40Gbps transmission speed, and Mini DisplayPort, allowing connection and compatibility with Mac or Windows operating systems.

The ViewFinity S9 features an ergonomic stand design that allows ▲free height adjustment (HAS) to match eye level ▲tilt adjustment ▲pivot for horizontal and vertical rotation, and is compatible with the VESA standard wall mount, enabling monitor placement without spatial constraints.

In addition, it supports clear video conferencing with a 4K resolution SlimFit camera without separate cables, and features 'Intelligent Eye Care' to protect eyes tired from long hours of work. It also includes useful functions such as the 'Samsung Smart TV app' for enjoying various OTT content and the 'Samsung Gaming Hub' for freely enjoying partner streaming games without a console.

The ViewFinity S9, which won the 'CES 2023 Innovation Award' from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) in the United States, is priced at 1.7 million KRW. It is sold exclusively on Samsung.com, with pre-orders starting on the 26th and official release on July 3rd.
