[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jung] SK Innovation and its affiliated business subsidiaries announced on the 1st that they have carried out the '2023 Organizational Restructuring and Executive Appointments'.

To this end, SK Innovation and each business subsidiary reorganized their organizations to strengthen competitiveness in green businesses. In particular, to drive growth strategy execution more strongly, Park Sang-gyu, President of SK Networks, was appointed as President of SK Enmove, and Kim Cheol-jung, Head of SK Innovation's Portfolio Division, was promoted and appointed as President of SK IE Technology. The number of newly appointed executives who will lead green business performance creation on the ground remains at 31, similar to last year.

SK Innovation undertook organizational restructuring focusing on expanding its functions and capabilities as a business holding company. Accordingly, a new 'Global Open Innovation' division was established to carry out the mission of discovering and securing promising technologies at global advanced technology sites, and a 'Performance Management' division was also created to strengthen support functions for profit improvement activities of business subsidiaries. Additionally, an 'IR Division' was newly established to actively communicate with the market so that the achievements created mainly in green businesses can be properly recognized.

Business subsidiaries also established separate organizations aiming to fully realize 'Carbon to Green' performance. SK Energy R&S CIC (Refinery & Synergy Company In Company) established a 'New BM Design Office' to commercialize net zero strategies such as eco-friendly fuel oils that have been reviewed so far. SK Geocentric reorganized its 'Green Biz. Promotion Group' into the 'Solution Business Headquarters' and 'Material Headquarters' to strengthen the commercialization of projects with proven potential, such as plastic waste recycling. Furthermore, a 'China Business Headquarters' was newly established to expand eco-friendly and recycling businesses within China.

SK On reorganized its organization focusing on strengthening manufacturing and R&D competitiveness, enhancing synergy among key functions, and increasing execution power of key projects. Through this, SK On expects to respond agilely to rapid business growth and production increase, enabling faster achievement of its financial story.

SK Enmove established an 'e-Fluids Marketing Office' to actively expand global marketing for electric vehicle lubricants, and SK IE Technology newly created a 'New Customer Development Division' to aggressively carry out marketing activities in the US and Europe. SK Earth On expanded and reorganized its organization to secure technological superiority in the CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) field.

An SK Innovation official explained, "The personnel appointments were made under the principle of boldly appointing talents with expertise and execution capabilities capable of producing results in the 'Carbon to Green' strategy to achieve net zero."

Park Sang-gyu, who will be appointed as the new President of SK Enmove, joined Yukong, the predecessor of SK Innovation, in 1987. He has held key positions such as head of the retail strategy team, executive of the investment company management office, head of SK Energy's retail marketing division, and general manager of Walkerhill Hotel. Since 2017, he has served as President of SK Networks. He is evaluated as a president with strategic planning capabilities and on-site business sense based on diverse business experience within the group, and is expected to contribute to strengthening SK Enmove's new identity as an 'Energy Saving Company' and expanding its business.

Kim Cheol-jung, promoted and appointed as the new President of SK IE Technology, joined in 1992 and has served in major departments such as finance, accounting, and management strategy at SK Innovation. After serving as head of the management planning office and strategy headquarters, he has been the head of SK Innovation's Portfolio Division since 2021. Known as a strategist with both financial and planning capabilities, he is regarded as the right person to upgrade SK IE Technology's performance improvement and growth strategy and actively communicate these to the market.

Kim Jun, Vice Chairman of SK Innovation, said, "This organizational restructuring and personnel appointments signify our intention to produce substantial results in 2023 through the execution of the financial story," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that SK Innovation affiliates' 'Carbon to Green' growth strategy is recognized by the market and leads to enhanced corporate value."
