[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] Jang Jae-won's son, rapper Noel (real name Jang Yong-jun), a member of the People Power Party, who was indicted for refusing a police breathalyzer test and assaulting a police officer, was sentenced to prison again in the second trial.

On the 28th, the 4-3 Criminal Appeal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judges Cha Eun-kyung, Yang Ji-jung, Jeon Yeon-sook) dismissed Jang's appeal in the appeal trial, where he was indicted on charges including unlicensed driving, refusal to take a breathalyzer test, obstruction of official duties, and injury, and had been sentenced to one year in prison in the first trial.

Jang was arrested on suspicion of driving a passenger car and causing a collision with another vehicle at around 10:30 p.m. on September 18 last year at the Seongmo Hospital intersection in Seocho-gu, Seoul. After the police officers who arrived at the scene requested a breathalyzer test, he refused and head-butted a police officer. He was indicted while in custody in October last year. Jang's license had already been revoked in 2019 due to a drunk driving accident.

In the first trial, except for the charge of injuring a police officer, Jang was found guilty of the other charges and sentenced to one year in prison.

Previously, the prosecution requested a three-year prison sentence for Jang at the sentencing hearing, the same as in the first trial.

Jang also has a prior record from 2019, when he was indicted for driving under the influence and colliding with a motorcycle in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and in June 2020, he was sentenced to one year and six months in prison with a two-year probation period confirmed.
