One of Korea's representative pop artists, Charles Jang's NFT artwork will be unveiled on July 19 through Opensea, the world's largest NFT marketplace. 'ArcPia,' an NFT brand launched by J&John, a company specializing in exhibitions and art, is set to present NFT works starting with Charles Jang, followed by director Jung Byung-gil of the films 'The Villainess' and 'Carter,' Florentijn Hofman, the creator of the giant duck 'Rubber Duck,' world-renowned illustrators Sarah Bittson and Gabriel Hollington, and video artist Ben Waniche, who created 'Macro War,' which has recorded 32.89 million views on YouTube.
ArcPia aims to differentiate itself from existing IT developer-based NFT works by building a network with global artists and showcasing NFT pieces across various genres. In particular, ArcPia announced that by attracting investments from Korea Investment Partners and Neowiz, it will aggressively enter the global artist recruitment and overseas markets.
Charles Jang has presented many works inspired by hearts, and the Charles Jang Happy Heart NFT, exclusively contracted with ArcPia, was planned with the intention of "delivering infinite positive energy through Happy Hearts." During his university years, he was greatly inspired by graffiti and street art, and has since showcased various artworks based on painting. He has also collaborated with brands such as Samsung Galaxy, Tous Les Jours, Montblanc, and Samsonite. Through collaboration with Charles Jang, the popular idol group VIXX became the first domestic idol group to attempt a collaboration with pop art in their music video.
Continuing communication with the public through diverse artistic activities, Charles Jang expressed, "It is new and fresh that the Happy Heart character is reborn in 3D through this ArcPia NFT project. I hope many people join the journey of Happy Heart, which carries the name happiness, and gain happiness, a sense of achievement, and infinite joy through challenges." He also added his expectations for the new NFT work, saying, "Seoul is like pop art. Happy Heart tours famous spots, hip places, and so-called 'hipji' around Seoul, playfully showcasing various backgrounds of the city."
Choi Yohan, ArcPia's Chief Creative Director, has planned and directed major domestic exhibitions featuring David LaChapelle, Audrey Hepburn, Michael Lau, Megan Hess, and Mr. Brainwash. Director Choi stated, "Charles Jang communicates well with the public. This familiarity and kindness of Charles Jang best align with the NFTs ArcPia pursues," adding, "ArcPia will present the direction and standards NFTs should follow through continuous collaboration with global artists."
The minting of Charles Jang's Happy Art project will take place on July 19 at 10 PM KST with a 30% discounted price for the Allow List (White List), followed by an Open Run at 10 PM on July 21 with a 10% discount, and a Public Sale at 10 PM on July 22. Detailed schedules can be checked via ArcPia's Discord and Twitter. Starting with Series 1 of Charles Jang's NFTs, plans for Series 2 and 3 will be announced sequentially, and purchasing Series 1 will grant benefits for acquiring works by other ArcPia NFT artists in the future.
Additionally, collectors will receive actual art pieces and art catalogs by Charles Jang based on the number of NFTs purchased and held.
The NFT of Florentijn Hofman, the world-renowned public art artist famous for floating a giant duck on Seokchon Lake, which has gained much popularity in Korea, will also be available soon. Hofman's iconic 'Rubber Duck' NFT is exclusively contracted with J&John ArcPia.
Hofman said, "When I was invited to participate in ArcPia, I felt curiosity and a desire to show art in new and lesser-known spaces to the public," adding, "I believe that inspired by NFT works, more people will become interested in creation," sharing his thoughts on joining the project.
J&John will hold various online and offline events for ArcPia NFT collectors and membership holders, including ▲ airdrop events ▲ profit donation programs with artists ▲ conferences ▲ physical artwork provision events by artists ▲ global NFT VIP parties ▲ NFT exhibitions ▲ and on/offline meetings with artists.
