[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Comprehensive home interior specialist Hanssem Co., Ltd. announced on the 20th the '2022 Spring Lifestyle Trends,' starting with the unveiling of new model house products on Hanssem.com. The trends proposed by Hanssem this time offer solutions for new residential spaces that heal the weary daily lives of modern people and help prepare for the post-COVID-19 era.
Based on rapidly changing social trends and housing condition surveys, Hanssem has held lifestyle trend presentations every spring and fall since 2018.
Since last fall’s lifestyle trend announcement, Hanssem has collaborated with top domestic architectural design firms to incorporate the latest interior trends and original ideas, proposing differentiated space solutions. The two newly announced model houses were also developed in collaboration with external architectural design firms 'WGNB (Wallga & Brothers)' and 'Design Tomorrow.'
The model houses unveiled by Hanssem this time are two types?▲Live Like a Poem and ▲Seamless House?featuring space solutions that reflect the latest interior trends and customer lifestyles. They are characterized by realizing the unique design concepts of renowned domestic architects using Hanssem Rehouse’s furniture and building materials.
The 'Live Like a Poem' model house is presented in collaboration with the design firm WGNB. This model house is set as a 29-pyeong (approx. 95.9 m²) residence for a three-person family consisting of a couple in their 30s or 40s and their elementary school-aged daughter. WGNB’s original idea reinterprets the lyrical life of an old scholar with a modern sensibility.
It draws inspiration from the most comfortable home image?the lyrical life of an old scholar who recites poetry and drinks tea. To express the scholar’s life with a warm and calm atmosphere, white and beige colors are used throughout to create unity.
The living room is designed as a communication space where the family gathers. Instead of a TV, a picture frame is boldly installed, and modular sofas and armchairs that can be freely rearranged into desired shapes are placed. Rather than watching TV, the living room encourages active communication where the family can sit around and have comfortable conversations.
The living room balcony space is made into a low, floor-style platform to enjoy tea ceremonies and relaxation. A Zen sliding door, reminiscent of the wooden lattice doors of traditional Korean houses (Hanok), separates the living room balcony from the living room, adding an oriental touch to the living room.
In the living room corridor, the junctions between the ceiling and walls, and walls and floors are finished with 'hidden molding.' While typical moldings are 3?6 cm wide and visible, the 'hidden molding' is invisible, making the living room appear more spacious and sophisticated.
The master bedroom and study room doors at the end of the corridor feature 'doorless line doors' in the interior. The door lines where the wall and door meet are eliminated, creating a clean finish where the ceiling, walls, floor, and door seamlessly connect as one.

The 'Seamless House' model, sized at 49 pyeong (approx. 161.9 m²), was decorated in collaboration with the design firm Design Tomorrow. The Seamless House reflects the diverse lifestyles of a three-person family consisting of a music director husband, an influencer wife, and a middle school-aged child.
'Seamless' means 'without seams' in English, and this model house can be interpreted as a 'house that is open and connected.' Reflecting the era’s emphasis on the diverse lifestyles of family members, it was designed to allow various activities without spatial restrictions. The designer’s interesting idea emphasizes continuity and expandability by removing boundaries between spaces.
The entire wall connecting the entrance to the study is filled with custom-built-in storage from floor to ceiling, embodying the concept of continuity and expandability in the interior. Additionally, built-in storage is installed in places such as the dressing room and living room to expand storage space. This helps achieve a minimal interior by neatly storing clutter accumulated at home due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The study is designed as a multifunctional space that can be freely and diversely used according to the family members’ lifestyles?as the husband’s workspace, a family communication area, and the child’s study room. Notably, a sliding door is installed on one wall of the study to connect directly to the middle school child’s room. This allows the child, who has many online classes, to conveniently move between the room and study as needed.
Overall, the color saturation is lowered to create a calm, neutral-toned home resembling nature. Building materials composing the walls and floors use toned-down colors such as ivory and natural oak, while furniture doors in the kitchen and study spaces use dark brown color as a point to create a calm yet luxurious atmosphere.
On the 20th, Hanssem unveiled two model houses online on Hanssem.com, where customers can check videos and photo content introducing the model houses related to this trend announcement. Kim Yoon-hee, Executive Director of Hanssem R&D Headquarters, said, "To heal the weary daily lives of modern people exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and information overload, and to achieve smooth communication and a healthy life balance in the upcoming post-COVID-19 era, we propose space solutions.
