apM S&S, the IT affiliate of apM Group, the largest clothing wholesale market in Dongdaemun, announced the successful launch of the apM Members app on March 14 through the App Store and Google Play.
The apM Members app has been introduced to apM, apM PLACE, and apM Luxe. Considering the traditional market characteristics of Dongdaemun clothing wholesale market, the app plans to increase awareness over about a month starting with services such as free shuttle bus rides, followed by activating the electronic gift card service feature. The electronic gift card service is a core feature of the apM Members app, aiming for 10-20% of the transaction volume of over 6 trillion KRW (as of 2019) among the stores within the apM shopping mall to be conducted via electronic gift cards through the app.
About a week after the launch, without any external promotion, apM S&S secured over 1,000 members on the first day and has accumulated more than 3,000 retail business members and over 1,000 wholesale franchise stores as apM Members app users to date.
The apM shopping malls (apM, apM PLACE, apM Luxe) are connected by a shuttle bus service. Previously, the shuttle bus accommodated all Dongdaemun customers, not limited to apM shopping malls, but with the launch of the apM Members app, free rides are now available exclusively to app members. apM S&S plans to strengthen the competitiveness of the introduction sites by securing more members within the Dongdaemun cluster through differentiated services provided only to app members.
The cumulative shuttle bus rides recorded so far exceed approximately 8,000. According to data collected through the apM Members app, app members use the shuttle bus service at least twice per visit to the shopping mall. apM S&S will analyze the collected boarding information to understand customer visit patterns and actively utilize indicators such as peak usage times to provide a systematic wholesale market-type customized service unique to apM Members.
Representatives from apM S&S stated, “We are grateful and pleased to have successfully started the service, and the number of members collected and cumulative shuttle bus rides have exceeded the internal targets set by the company.” They added, “After about a month of app service application, we plan to launch the electronic gift card. We will build the service based on a structure that allows customers and tenant brands of apM shopping mall to feel tangible benefits, thereby creating new corporate competitiveness unique to apM shopping mall.”
