[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Market Kurly announced on the 13th that it has officially launched its mobile gifting service and is embarking on a full-scale market expansion.
Market Kurly previously introduced a limited-time gifting service for select products ahead of the Chuseok holiday in September. In this official mobile gifting service, the number of products has increased more than fivefold from about 400 to over 2,300. The category range has also been expanded. During Chuseok, food items such as fruits, meat, seafood, health supplements, snacks, and beverages accounted for 90%, but in this official service, the number of beauty products has increased more than 11 times, and the proportion of non-food items such as perfumes, toys, electronics, household goods, and kitchenware has risen to about half.
To mark the year-end season, products related to home parties and thank-you gifts have also been included in the gifting service. Along with easy-to-prepare meals, sauces, and desserts for food preparation, a variety of gifting service products such as flowers and perfumes, which are good for expressing gratitude, have been arranged to be widely used according to age, gender, and purpose. Popular ready meals such as 'Lee Yeon-bok’s Mokran' Jjajangmyeon and Jjamppong, 'Meat Clever' cod makchang, and 'Gangnam Myeonok' beef short rib stew, as well as famous desserts like 'Napoleon' stollen, 'Monchang82' nougat crackers, and 'Artisee' roll cakes are offered. Additionally, perfumes from famous brands such as 'Lanvin,' 'Chloe,' 'Jimmy Choo,' and 'Anna Sui,' as well as products like 'Samsung Electronics' monitors, 'Balmuda' humidifiers, and 'Nintendo' Switch consoles can also be sent through the gifting service.
Market Kurly’s gifting service allows users to select desired products in the gifting category of the Market Kurly mobile application (app) and complete payment by pressing the gift button. Only the recipient’s name and mobile phone number need to be entered without a separate address input. Gifts and thank-you messages can be sent via KakaoTalk integration. However, recipients must enter the delivery address within five days from the payment date, and gifted products are delivered via courier service. Only Market Kurly members can place gifting orders, but recipients can be either members or non-members.
Meanwhile, Market Kurly analyzed that sales volume in the second week after launching the gifting service in September increased by 887% compared to the first week. The average daily sales growth rate reached as high as 39%, confirming rapid growth.
