[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 2nd that it will offer a 3-month free trial of the Apple TV+ service to smart TV customers.
In line with the launch of Apple's content subscription service Apple TV+ in Korea on the 4th, LG Electronics will provide a 3-month free Apple TV+ subscription voucher to customers who newly subscribe to Apple TV+ through LG TVs from the 16th of this month until February 14th next year. This 3-month free trial promotion will be equally available to LG TV customers in 83 countries worldwide where Apple TV+ is accessible.
LG smart TVs released since 2016 can access the Apple TV+ service directly through the webOS home screen without the need for additional peripherals such as set-top boxes. The smart TVs supporting this service include OLED, QNED, NanoCell, and UHD TVs equipped with webOS versions 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5/5.0/6.0.
Apple TV+ is the industry's first content subscription service offering only original content, providing a lineup of original series and movies including various series, dramas, documentaries, children's content, and comedies. The Korean launch title of Apple TV+, DR. Brain, is scheduled for streaming on the 4th.
Jung Seong-hyun, Head of HE Service Planning and Operations at LG Electronics, said, "We aim to allow more customers to experience the differentiated usability that enables easy and convenient enjoyment of desired content, as well as the advantages of LG TVs that can properly deliver high-quality videos such as Apple TV+ original content."
