[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 5th that it has launched the 2022 model of the mid-size sedan SM6.

The 2022 SM6 has improved driving performance and ride comfort, and it upgraded the LTE-based EASY CONNECT service by newly adding convenience features such as the in-car payment service, In-Car Payment, and the safety support call service to the facelift model released last year.

Renault Samsung Motors explained that since non-face-to-face services have become routine due to COVID-19, In-Car Payment, which allows non-face-to-face refueling and ordering from food and beverage franchise menus, was added to the SM6.

Newly added features also include the Safety Support Call service, which supports emergency rescue reporting and accident handling through a 24-hour dedicated call center in case of emergencies such as vehicle accidents, and the 'Breakdown Help Call,' which supports towing and service center guidance when a vehicle breaks down.

In addition, the 'Map in Cluster' function displays navigation maps and routes on the 10.25-inch cluster screen, and the 'LED Matrix Vision Headlamps,' which precisely adjust brightness by area according to the front situation during night driving, enhance driving safety by securing the driver's visibility and preventing glare for oncoming drivers.

The exterior of the SM6 makes the body appear wider with a front grille connected to the left and right headlamps. A dynamic turn signal that sequentially lights up as if drawing a line was also applied.

The interior is equipped with Nappa leather upholstery, a Prestige headrest designed in a wing shape on both sides to comfortably support the neck, Easy Access that automatically adjusts the seat position for easier vehicle entry, and massage seats.

The SM6 is equipped with powertrains including the TCe 260 and TCe 300 turbo direct injection gasoline engines and the 2.0 LPe LPG liquid injection engine. The TCe 260 delivers a maximum output of 156 horsepower and a maximum torque of 26.5 kg·m. Its combined fuel efficiency is 13.6 km/L (based on 16-inch and 17-inch tires). The TCe 300 offers a maximum output of 225 horsepower and a maximum torque of 30.6 kg·m, while the 2.0 LPe has 140 horsepower and 19.7 kg·m torque.

Through the model year change of the SM6, Renault Samsung Motors enhanced seat convenience features such as the passenger power seat, front ventilated seats, and Easy Access in the main trim TCe 260 LE. The top trim TCe 300 PREMIERE added lane keeping assist, EASY CONNECT 9.3-inch navigation, and the BOSE sound system as standard features.
